Auction donations should be received by Oct. 5. Cash donations to help with Reunion expenses are always appreciated!

Along with other vendors who will have booths set up, MSGAO will also have its “store” at the Reunion. You will be able to purchase Reunion T-shirts, greyhound-related items, homemade dog treats and mixes, among other things. A service elevator is available for moving dogs and people to the upper floor where the party happens.

For those traveling long distance to attend the reunion, these hotels will accommodate your greyhound:

  • Motel 6 (next to Econolodge), 2501 S. Service Road, West Memphis, (870) 735-0100, no pet fee.
  • Days Inn (next to Margarita’s) easy walking to the event, 1100 Ingram Blvd., West Memphis, (870) 735-8600. When calling for reservations please mention the Greyhound Reunion on Oct. 12 for special pricing.

MSGAO Represents at Lichterman Nature Center

Mid-South Greyhound Adoption is getting double-duty out of its entry in the pantheon of scarecrows now decorating the expansive grounds of Lichterman Nature Center. Ms. Scoopy daPoopy is not only promoting greyhound adoption at this celebration of fall, but also responsible pet ownership.

Ms. daPoopy is among scores of scarecrows — life-sized, ecological, green, scary, silly, funny and educational — on display from Sept. 12 through Nov. 22 at the nature center on Quince Road in Memphis. Each scarecrow delivers messages ranging from recycling to planting for wildlife.

Ms. daPoopy’s message aims get more pet owners picking up. Memphis officials have said an increasing amount of pet waste is posing a threat to the Mid-South’s water systems and are asking people to clean up after their animals. “Scoop the Poop” signs for your yard can be obtained from the City of Memphis Storm Water Program at (901) 576-6721. A city ordinance prohibits leaving behind your pet’s waste on public property. You’ll note Ms. daPoopy is picking up after her charming greyhound in the display!

MSGAO board member Adam Loeffel designed Ms. daPoopy. Paul Cohen was photographer for her installation at Lichterman.

    Summer Adoptions!
