Happy Faces and Clean Hounds!

The fur was flying at the Mid-South Greyhound Adoption Option annual Dog Wash on June 12. A record number of dogs — 52 in all — got their summer haircuts and enjoyed baths, nail trims and ear- and teeth-cleaning, reports Director Vicki Cohen. A record amount of money was raised: $4,200 in all.

Their human in attendance enjoyed camaraderie, tasty food and opportunities to win prizes. With the tents set up and massive fans, even the heat was bearable for the most part. The dogs got a special treat, as one of the pictures below shows!

MSGAO thanks all participants for making this fund-raising event a big success!

Fur, fur and more fur!

Here are a few happy hounds enjoying the event. Lots more pictures can be seen here.

We Barked in the Park!

Well, not too many greyhounds barked, since they tend to be the strong silent types, but there were some yips and yaps to go along with the soulful singing of Joyce Cobb and her fabulous band at the second annual Bark in the Park.

We thank all the humans who turned out to chill — literally — with their canine companions at the Levitt Shell in Overton Park. Great prizes were won, fun was had and a good cause was supported. A highlight for the dogs was ice cream treats, which they lapped up despite the cold!

Thanks also to the vendors and volunteers who were generous in support of the event! Special thanks go to the sponsors who made the event possible: Southland Park Gaming and Racing, Red Wax (concert sponsor), Hollywood Feed, Seize the Clay, Clark Beverage Group Inc., and bluepaw design.
